About SMART Reading: Established in 1992, SMART Reading is an Oregon 501(c)3 nonprofit literacy initiative that supports students in kindergarten-3rd grade in learning to read and developing a life-long love of books. SMART pairs young children with volunteers from our literacy nonprofit for weekly reading sessions and give children books to keep strengthening their education. Our vision as a literacy nonprofit is an Oregon where all children can realize their full potential through reading. We provide a meaningful way for the community to support kids and their families through shared reading time and access to books.
